Maryann
There are just some people that you meet that you will never understand. Maryann was one of those women. A pious women who was tall, thin, lanky, with white-blond, curly hair. Happily married with a teenage daughter. An administrative employee that was able to carry that career.
Maryann made some bad choices which made her a dark figure in my life. She slept her way into a management position for which she was not qualified. We started losing accounts left and right. She was playing around with the boss more than she was working. One complaint after another started to pile up and I was the person who had to deal with it. I only knew Maryann for two years and those were not fun years.
I remember during this time running into her husband and daughter without her at an amusement park. I knew where Maryann was at by the look in her husband’s eyes, he knew too. We talked briefly. I asked where Maryann was. The look in his eyes told the whole story. She had told him she was on an out-of-town site visit with me.
Maryann and her boss were not with the company much longer. Unfortunately I was left to deal with the fall out. Maryann and her boss had their following. I as the messenger had to take some bullets. You know what they say, don’t shoot the messenger. Unfortunately, shots were fired by the rank and file. Luckily, I am a strong capable women and deflected the daggers.
Oh the trouble people cause when they dip there pen in the company ink.
Don’t be those people. Affairs happen everyday, and it is very unfortunate as there is a lot of collateral damage. Employees, customers, spouses and children. If only people could see beyond the lust. They would realize how selfish they are being. They would see how much damage they are causing. One can hope for a better time in life for future generations. What if you could actually serve time for affairs in the workplace. Would that deter the stupidity? Think about all of the chaos you will bring. Consider the damage that will result if you choose to engage in an affair. Do your children deserve that?
