Bunny Maker
This gentleman doesn’t have a name. He was a stranger that came into the donut shop. He sat at the counter and ordered up a coffee and a buttermilk donut. He had a small notebook. He wrote a few notes and asked for a couple of refills. He sat studiously on that stool for a good hour. He reminded of what a Hollywood Agent might look like. I am not sure why I felt that way, he seemed very polished and astute, but very comfortable with himself.
I really do not remember what he looked like. But I will never forget what he left behind. I still have it today in a little box, tucked away in a bigger box of memorabilia. He not only left me a little gift, but he also left a $10 tip. I think that is why I felt he was in from Hollywood. But I was a very young teen, very inexperienced.
What the gentleman left behind was a Bunny Rabbit made from a napkin. On the ears he wrote a message. It said something like “Bunny of the Year Award!”
What did it mean? Was I quick like a bunny? Only the bunny maker knows.
I will say this. If you can show any type of kindness to a youngster in their first career, I would highly recommend it. It is amazing the way people touch your lives. I still have this little trinket of appreciation that is over 45 years old. It just shows how little acts of kindness can mean the world to some people. Especially the young and impressionable teens of the world.
