From Joy to Despair: The True Nature of Toxic Personalities

No Joy in this woman, unless you are talking “FAKE”.  I do not think I have ever met someone with so much pure evil in her heart as Joy.  She was a fake, nice person. Oozing with false smiles and meaningless words. She was also mean and downright menacing.

Joy was in a religious order and those that lived with her had nothing nice to say about her. She openly talked about being abused as a child by a horrible stepmother. Have you ever seen the movie “The Bad Seed?”  It is about this seemingly normal child with good parents who has the devil inside of her. She does horrible and despicable things.  I sometimes wonder if Joy was a Bad Seed.  Maybe her stepmother was mean to her because she needed to be.

I worked with a gentleman who had a neglectful mother and spoke openly about how evil Joy was. He would say she has no excuse for her behavior.  I grew up in an awful environment and if anything, I am a much more compassionate person because of it. Joy mistreating others like she does is just awful. He saw many people that he cared about be mistreated by Joy. Joy made their lives miserable for no reason. 

She would hire people just to fire them. She would gossip about the other women she lived with. I try never to speak ill of the way someone looks. I will say with Joy. She was uglier on the inside than she was on the outside. With her boyish bowl-haircut and rotten teeth, slouchy posture and two hundred pounds she left a lot to be desired. Her inside ugliness was worse than her outside.

Joy is the type of person I would not waste a prayer on. I feel almost guilty for saying that. But I have always been the type to love you, like you, or have nothing to do with you. I do not waste my soul on hate.  Life becomes so much freer feeling and worth living when you do not waste energy on hate. When you walk away from toxic people, they gain no satisfaction. You live rent-free in their heads. This is a reward in itself. Unfortunately Joy would not be the last of the toxic people in my life. Joy is the one that makes me want to help the less fortunate deal with toxic bosses.
