Annie and Helen
Do you remember the Snoop Sisters? It was a regular show about two elderly ladies that solved mysteries around their town. I had two Aunts that we endearingly referred to as the Snoop Sisters. Helen and Annie were both very tiny. No more than 5’ 1”. They were the two eldest sisters of my Mom’s family. Both funny and giggly ladies. Helen married but never had any children. Annie married and had two sons.
Both ladies were devoutly religious and very clean. They were proper women who dedicated their life to taking care of their mother. Their father had passed when they were both in their late teens. Although they married, they never lived far from their mom. They were there to take her shopping, to church every Sunday and to any family event. They loved to cook traditional meals at their mother’s home, pirogi’s, galumpki or homemade noodles and salt bread. We enjoyed eating and celebrating with them when we came to town to visit.
I adored my aunts for their loyalty and dedication to their mother. They were a living example of how daughters should behave. Not all moms are as wonderful as their mom was. I am sure their dedication and love for their mother came from the love that she showed them.
Just another example of what goes around comes around in life. If you lead and live by example those who witness are more likely to do the same.
