Marty
You know when you watch a classic movie from the 40’s and you see this perfect gentlemen. He is properly groomed and properly dressed. This man is so polite, smart, funny, and charming. You long for the day when all men were like that. At least the movies make you believe that is the way it was. He was 5’9″ with short brown hair. He had a cute little smile that was almost a devious one. Most of the time, it was accompanied by a tiny, soft snicker.
Marty worked for me in golf sales for 5 years. He was a funeral director by trade. He also acted much like a golf pro when he had the time. He was also a very good mime and performed at a variety of events. He loved golf. His love for golf was evident, in the passion for which he played. He had an impeccable ability to sell a very expensive round to thousands of golfers across the Midwest. Some golfers were even from across the globe. Marty was the type of man that every woman wants for her daughter. He was a devout church goer and a dedicated husband and father.
Marty had a daughter with muscular dystrophy. He proudly wore the badge of honor as a father to a disabled child. He didn’t look for sympathy; he looked past the challenges and helped his daughter live a beautiful life.
I was never so proud to call someone my friend as I was with Marty. He was truly the type of guy that deserves all the honors in life. A key to the city, a citizen of the year award, a father of a lifetime award. Marty truly is a MVP of all men. Every man out there should aspire to be a tenth of the man that Marty was and still is today.
